I am excited today to talk with Mike Maguire!
Q: When did you join the Mediu team?
A: I guess technically I’m a ‘boomerang’. I first joined Mediu in 2013, but recently came back August of 2017.
Q: How did you first learn about Mediu?
A: I first heard of Mediu through a recruiter. At the time, my position had me working on several technologies but only at a ‘novice’ level. One of these was Genesys, which I always loved the opportunity to work on because it required a unique area compared to other technologies I worked on. When I heard of an opportunity at Mediu, I jumped at the chance to focus on Genesys.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?
A: It has never gotten routine. It is a different challenge almost every day!
Q: How has the contact center industry evolved since you first began working at Mediu?
A: A few things have changed… The move to cloud platforms, more focus on security, a greater focus on data analytics.
Q: What industry trends are you keeping your eye on?
A: Cloud of course, also security.
Q: Which three words would you use to describe the culture at Mediu?
A: Collaborative – We help each other out. It doesn’t matter when we need assistance, whether it’s late at night, or a holiday, we are here to help each other keep our customer’s environments up and stable. There are no silos and are not in competition with each other. Things we learn are documented and shared. Innovative – I have yet to come across a group better at finding and implementing innovative solutions. Fun – When onsite, there is lots of impromptu jam sessions, karaoke. I’ve made friends here, and try to meet up with them in person whenever possible.
Q: When you aren’t working, how do you like to spend your time?
A: With my family. Outside if possible, it doesn’t matter what the weather is. I love to travel, and am ready for a road trip whenever I can get the time.
Q: What motivates you to jump out of bed in the morning?
A: Learning – going to bed at night knowing something I did not know a few hours ago.
Q: Tell us one thing most people don’t know about you.
A: I’ve started taking Jiu-Jitsu lessons with my 8-year-old daughter.
